can someone explain how i can use a regexp llike this in a macro?

<a(\s[^>]*)?>.*?(</a>)?> = this is looking up all a tags.

I want to searc for all a tags with <a(\s[^>]*)?>.*?(</a>)?> and replace with nothing. I dont know the syntax for a macro like this?
