Firefox ESR updated and can't install old iMacros now

Post by Vitae » Sat Sep 08, 2018 3:44 am

Well, for a while now, I was using Firefox ESR and for some reason the latest update won't allow installing imacros_for_firefox-8.9.7-fx.xpi anymore.
So, pretty much screwed now because none of my scripts work. Most of have EVENTS and others have CSV's.
Top it off you can only have 50 lines of code in the current free version? I have several that are a few HUNDRED lines long!
You know these developer fuckers are enjoying the way Firefox has screwed us and loving that they are more of a cash grab now.

Ok, here's a fix of sorts.
Go here: https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/52.9.0esr/
That's the latest version before the current ESR one.
Install whichever one you need. Me, I needed https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/rel ... n64/en-US/
Set it so that this will NEVER update by going Options > Advanced and select Never Check for updates and uncheck Use background service to install updates and uncheck Search Engines.
Goto https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... /versions/
Scroll to Version 8.9.7 and click Download Anyway.
Drag the file onto a Firefox tab. The one that you are on with the iMacros download is fine.
Tell it to install and restart.
Now, the important thing is that you NEVER click Help and then About.
I did all the above steps, restarted several times and all was great.
Made the mistake of going to About and even tho I didn't click to update, when I restarted FF ESR the damn thing updated and I had to redo everything!
From here on out, everything should be 100% perfect.
Unless FF ESR forces an update despite the Never Check for updates setting.
