iMacros EOL - Attention!

The renewal maintenance has officially ended for Progress iMacros effective November 20, 2023 and all versions of iMacros are now considered EOL (End-of-Life). The iMacros products will no longer be supported by Progress (aside from customer license issues), and these forums will also no longer be moderated from the Progress side.

Thank you again for your business and support.

Why is iMacros no longer shown in the Firefox sidebar?

Post by viking » Wed Jul 22, 2020 6:23 pm

I find the new iMacros separate window very inconvenient :( .
Why can it not be displayed in the Firefox sidebar instead :? ?

I have have several extensions which are shown in the sidebar instead of in a separate window (e.g. Tree Style Tab & Sage-Like)

EDIT: The docking is also not working very well. For example, if I minimize Firfox, the iMacros window is also minimized. However, when I then return focus to (expand) Firefox, the iMacros window is is still minimized. I need to then expand the iMacros window separately.

Firefox 78.0.2 (64-bit)
iMacros 10.0.2.1450
Win7 (64-bit)

Hi viking,

The short answer is: iMacros for Firefox is based on the same code and architecture as iMacros for Chrome. To my knowledge, Chrome does not have such a sidebar mechanism for extensions. However, this does not mean that in the future we will not add Firefox-specific functionality to iMacros for Firefox, and will continue to evaluate options for having a common code base and maintaining consistency between browsers.
