Running a Script with Firefox Minimized?

Post by viking » Thu Dec 31, 2009 3:04 am

When I run a iMacros script, Firefox is always pushed to the foreground. For example, when I run a loop and I am working in another application, Firefox is suddenly pushed to the foreground and I often continue typing in the Firefox window rather in my other application.....

Is there some way to keep Firefox minimized when running a loop or starting Firefox from a batch file?
For example, I have a batch file with this simple command:
start firefox.exe http://run.imacros.net/?m=myScript.js

p.s. I tried installing the Firefox extension MinTrayR which sends FF to the tray when minimized. However, it didn't help, as soon as the script runs FF leaves the tray and is still pushed to the foreground :(.

There is no iMacros command for this, I'm afraid. You will need to rely on javascript code.

I think that you misunderstood? I just don't want Firefox to get pushed to the foreground when it executes an iMacro script. Wouldn't that be part of how iMacros interacts with Firefox?

The developers already have this on their list (including support for "-silent"), but currently, there is no way to keep the firefox "out of the way" when it's being automated, I'm sorry.

Yes. Indeed, one of the main reasons for v7 was full unicode support.

A little of topic, is there anyway to start Firefox minimized from a bat file?
I tried:
start firefox.exe /MIN http://run.imacros.net/?m=MyMacro.js

but it still start maximized (and in the foreground), regardless if I invoke a macro or not.
i.e. start firefox.exe /MIN
still starts it maximized.

i hava an idea.

firefox can run in its self if you open chrome://browser/content/browser.xul in your locationbar.

and many firefox extentions can work in the inner firefox, but imacros can't.

if imcros works fine in the inner firefox ,mayby this problems done.

Similar to OP, I would like to start Firefox minimized. Is this still not an option?

I know the -silent option only works for IE and iMacros Browser: https://wiki.imacros.net/-silent

For anyone looking, Firetray has an option to start Firefox in the tray: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... /firetray/

Addon for Firefox (max. v56): Minimize On Start and Close (Feature: Minimizes on startup, tested with FF v52)

For Firefox Quantum: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefo ... he-window/ (code is okay but auto-start not included)
