What’s the use of Increasing Linkedin contacts?

Post by janib4all » Wed Jun 27, 2012 12:17 pm

Hello everyone,

Linkedin of one of my favorite & widely used business oriented social media site. It offers a mature business related feeling as compared with facebook.com! You don’t often find serious business class personals at facebook; its association is with business class often.

Anyhow, since I have joined Linkedin.com, I have always been thinking to grow up my contacts likewise I was told prior of join it. Everyone guiding me was just adding people and everyone still does this everyday but why is everyone doing this? Is there any real benefit of having “Bill Gates” in your contact list?

I don’t know, if it does in your case but recently I came across with a useful idea of utilizing my Linkedin contacts and it seems to work for me during the trial period, now I plan to use it for job searching purpose! Well, the idea is simple & starts with adding as much as possible people in your contact list, once you have enough people, try to contact individual just for asking “how are you doing?” or something are like that. I got 900 contacts and I tried this once and got response from almost 530 people within a single week; and good thing was that it contained replies from big companies CEO’s and HR managers along with executive/officer level people from different companies. The main reason of doing such activity is just to show your presence, once people begin to know you then that would be the time to earn from them.

I know it sounds good & practical but contacting more than a thousand people would take too long and contacting everyone every month may look ridicules. So, is there any solution available for this problem? Yes, there is. Actually there are three solutions available for this problem:

1. Shorten your list, remove all junior level contacts or keep them included but don’t contact them!
2. Linkedin offer contact exporting facility; once exported, send mass emails to everyone.
3. Use iMacro for automatic email sending by using Linkedin platform

So what are you thinking about?

Removing couple of people or sending emails to only selected people seems fair enough but at the end, it is going to create a mess and on the other hand, contacting your Linkedin contacts by sending emails from any different platform (i.e., gmail, hotmail etc) won’t work at all as people give more priority and read emails when they receive emails from some reliable website where they are registered (in this case, its Linkedin.com). At the end, iMacro offer lifetime alternative for this problem; its’ basically a Firefox plug-in used to automate your mouse movements and keyboard clicks. Here is how I use it; I got name/email list of all of my contacts (thanks to Linkedin export contact feature), all I have to do is it point the macro (iMacro) to the contact list CSV (excel sheet) and execute it. It keeps sending emails to everyone until you ask it to stop or the counter decreases to zero and good thing is that you can use variables in your emails (name of contact, email of contact, designation or company etc). Linkedin thinks it’s receiving clicks and data from some human being and posts everything properly and your contact appreciates it and response back.

So, where to get this bot and instructions about utilizing it? I am here for your assistance, if you find it useful by any mean, contact me directly through my email: janib4all@gmail.com. I make bots for different platforms including Linkedin, Twitter, Twiends and other platforms and extract data in bulk from websites like yellowpages, blogs, b2b sites etc.

Nice presentation of the possibility to use iMacros for the purpose you mentioned, maybe a bit long for some people...

But this Platform is an iMacros Forum and people surfing on this Site are usually already iMacros Users and will know how to implement themselves the Functionality you propose as it is actually fairly simple...

You have Forums and Groups in LinkedIn itself where you might find more interested people than here (and who won't know what iMacros is and how to implement that Functionality...).

Anyway, I would still be curious to know if you got any Replies (with some Statistics...) and people contacting you since you posted this Thread... (I hope you did... :) )
- (F)CI(M) = (Full) Config Info (Missing): iMacros + Browser + OS (+ all 3 Versions + 'Free'/'PE'/'Trial').
- FCI not mentioned: I don't even read the Qt...! (or only to catch Spam!)
- Script & URL help a lot for more "educated" Help...
