Wiki: 'Tutorials' Page => Dead Links, oops...! [SOLVED]

by chivracq on Thu Nov 15, 2018 2:04 pm

It looks like all Links to all Tutorials on the 'Tutorials' Wiki-Page, all Sections on that Page, give some "404 - File or directory not found." Server Error:
Server Error
404 - File or directory not found.
The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

All the Links point to some URL's in:

which redirect to:

+ Somewhat related, the 'Using iMacros for Firefox: A Visual, Step-By-Step Tour.' Tutorial "advertized" as "Highly recommended reading" by @Tech Support in the 'pinned Thread with the same Name' in the 'iMacros for FF' Sub-Forum, (external Resource/Link) also looks dead...!:

And yep, I know this Link/Resource is/was not maintained by TechSup/iOpus/Ipswitch, but maybe TechSup or some other User had downloaded it or saved the Page previously and would be able to re-upload it directly to the Forum..., or TechSup have "a way" to contact that User by E-mail if they have/had an Account on the Forum... :idea:

["Soft-Alert" sent to TechSup, they should react within a few days when they'll check the Forum...] 8)

I suspect all Links to Tutorials have been broken since July 2018, 4 months ago, when v10.0.1 for CR and v10.0.2 for FF went "Official" and all Download Links to all previous iMacros Versions were removed from the Wiki, and nobody since ever complained about the missing Tutorials, so I guess there is no real "PANIC" among the "Crowd" to get those Links fixed, ah-ah...! :wink:
But OK, @TechSup, "No Panic" doesn't mean you shouldn't fix them, grrr...! :wink:

The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

One of our admins inadvertently moved the files on this server without realizing they were linked to the iMacros wiki. The links will be updated once the files have a new permanent home.

I replied to the thread where this post is linked... nothing we can do about external content outside of our control, but I did post a link to the article on archive.org.

Actually, this occurred much more recently, within the past couple of weeks.

Thank you for the report chivracq! :D

1- 'Tutorials' Wiki-Page:
OK, perfect @Tom..., I guess you'll post some mini-Update when the Links on the 'Tutorials' Wiki-Page will have been updated, or I'll "try" to check again in a few days or 1 or 2 weeks if I don't "forget" about this Thread... :wink:

You might be able to run some Query for all Pages with some broken Links from the 'System Messages' Wiki-Tool, the 'broken-file-category' Command for example (=> "Pages with broken file links") looks "promising"... :idea:

Ah, OK about a few weeks vs 4 months like I thought, I never check those Pages with Tutorials "normally", I only found out "thanks" to some "creative" Spammer, ah-ah...!

2- 'Visual FF Tour' external Tutorial:
Yep, I had already seen your Reply in the "other" Thread, nice "catch" with 'archive.org'...! 8)

UPDATE: => SOLVED...!

I just happened to check the 'Tutorials' Wiki-Page to see if by any chance the Links to all Tutorials had been updated, and yep they have...!! :D

I first checked in my Default Browser (Pale Moon v26.3.3) and I was getting a Blank Page for each, "hum... strange..." I thought, but a Look at the Source showed me that those Pages contained some '.SWF' Flash Object, while I have blocked '.swf' Objects in that Browser.

Then I checked again in FF v55.0.3, and there they were...! I realized there were also already 4 embedded 'YouTube' Videos in '.swf' Containers on the "main" Page, ah-ah...!

But OK, I checked all Tutorials Links and they all work... or at least load, I only watched the 'Image Recognition' Tutorial, first time I saw it in action, woaw...!, very neat Functionality...! Pity we don't have that on FF, grrr...!! I would do very "interesting" "Things" if I had that Functionality, ah-ah...!

The 2nd one about "CSV input" is missing the "Loading iMacros Demo" Msg and Timer while loading the Page and the '.SWF' Object, but boah..., no big deal...!

=> OK, SOLVED...! :D
