iMacros Scripting Edition V7.36 released

Post by Tom, Tech Support » Tue Jun 07, 2011 8:02 am

This is a recommended maintenance release. In addition to several bug fixes, this release also includes the following new features:
Have you been Framed?
You may have noticed that some websites put the same content into a different frame on the page with each reload, or that the frame numbers change and therefore can't be relied upon for reliable playback of your macro. This is why iMacros records the frame name (if one is specified in the HTML source).

You may have also noticed an increasing trend for websites to use dynamically generated frame names, which also can't be used for reliable playback. For this reason, we enhanced the Expert click-mode in this release. Now when you record using the Expert click-mode inside of a frame, iMacros will by default record the frame name (if one exists), but it will also record a commented-out FRAME command that contains the frame number. If the frame name is random or dynamically generated each time by the website, then you have the option to edit your macro to use the frame number instead.

What do you do if a website is using dynamic frame names and random frame numbers?
See this tip for how to tag elements in frames with changing frame numbers.
