HTML 5: support for input type="email"

Post by raztus » Mon Jun 13, 2011 11:19 pm

I am running imacros build 1110311 in Chrome 12.0.742.91 on Linux x86_64 (Ubuntu 10.10). I tried to install the latest beta version, but simply got the message in the imacros window "cannot initialize plugin!" In any case, I reviewed the latest features for that beta, and I don't think this issue has been addressed yet.

It seems like imacros is unable to fill-in the HTML 5 "input type='email'" tag. I have the following code in the macro:

Code: Select all

TAG POS=1 TYPE=INPUT:EMAIL ATTR=ID:email CONTENT=moo@moo.moo
As it stands the macro will highlight the field, but will not fill it out. When I change that code to be "INPUT:TEXT", and change the corresponding html to be "type='text'" it works fine. However, we prefer to use the type="email" attribute to take full advantage of the html-5 goodness. I would consider the lack of this feature to be a bug.

Thanks for this hint. I made an internal ticket (#172) for it. It will be supported soon.

Hi,

I believe that this has been fixed in version 3.5.9 of iMacros for Chrome.

You can download the newest version from iMacros for Chrome wiki page.

that would be true if you can change the coding. usually dev wont want to do that.
