Encrypted password compatibility with firefox macros

Post by mayuresh » Fri Feb 04, 2011 12:25 pm

I have existing macro scripts (iim files) written for firefox which use encrypted passwords.

I am trying to use the same scripts with google chrome iMacros 3.0.2 beta and using the same master password.

However I get "bad password" error when using the same.

Is there any way I can share same macro scripts with encrypted passwords between firefox and google chrome by providing same master password in both the browsers?

Hello mayuresh,

The encryption is compatible between Firefox and Chrome versions. I just recorded a new login macro with iMacros for Firefox and successfully played it back using iMacros for Chrome after setting the correct master password in the iMacros Preferences page.

Please double-check to make sure you are using the same master password in both versions.

You can also use our online password tool for verification:

Ok. I realize I was using previous version of password encryption tool. It still worked with firefox but not with chrome.

If I record a macro afresh or use the V2 password encryption tool, the scripts appear compatible.

One question however. If I save the encryption tool as an html and use it locally it does not show any results. This way of using the tool used to work for the old tool. The Error Console of firefox shows these errors:

showHideLayers is not defined
onEncrypt is not defined
